WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

Gospel comes from the Greek word euangelion, which means “good news”.
The gospels are books found in the New Testament of the Bible.
Because Jesus brings the Sovereignty of God* to Earth through his life, death, and resurrection, the gospels focus on the words and deeds of Jesus.

In the Book of Acts 2:14-36, the Gospel started the church.
In Romans 6:23, the Gospel gives the gift of eternal life.
*The idea that God has the right to rule over his creation and exercise power over the world.

What is the prayer said before the Gospel is proclaimed?
There are four writers of the Gospel; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, also known as Evangelists.
The Gospel is introduced as,

The children are then guided to speak and do the following consecration starting with their “thumbs up” to God above:

May God be in my mind - make a small cross on your forehead

May God be on my lips - make a small cross on your lips

May God be in my heart - make a small cross on your chest

By doing this, there is hope that the Word of God will change minds, be proclaimed by the lips, and affect the heart.

Then the children respond,

“Glory to you, O Lord!”
At the conclusion of the Gospel,
the children are taught to respond,
“Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!”
