Jesus said,
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these".
Matthew 19:14
Why Children's Liturgy?
-
At St. Gertrude’s, we “shepherd” young children with the opportunity to explore, understand and participate in the Liturgy of the Word, namely the Sunday readings and the Gospel.
-
Celebrating the Liturgy of the Word with Children is an encounter with Our Heavenly Father where treasures will be found within the Scriptures.
-
Weekly lessons also focus on how children can build a personal relationship with Jesus.
-
The Children's Liturgy of the Word assists in the preparation of children's sacraments.
-
Praise, prayer and thanksgiving are the catalysts that make each child’s experience fruitful at their level of understanding.
-
Seeds of learning, listening, reflection, communication, modelling faith into action, thanksgiving and fellowship are sown weekly.
-
We help children grow in faith with our Catholic roots, we prepare them for full participation in the Liturgy of the Word and we encourage them with confidence and a spiritual sense of belonging in our parish community.
“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.”
